Studio Policies


The BrushCo policies apply to the individual initiating the rental, and to all of the guests, talent and customers associated with the shoot.   Following the Studio Policies will ensure that everyone can benefit from this creative space.


Please carefully review and adhere to the following Studio Policies. By booking your session, you agree to comply with these guidelines.


BrushCo. The studio does not offer refunds. If you cancel your session, you forfeit your payment. If you need to reschedule your session, please do so at least 72 hours before your scheduled booking. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of payment. The availability for rescheduling will be subject to BrushCo Studio's discretion. We have a rain-or-shine policy. If the streetcar is running, we are, too. We do, however, take the safety of our guests very seriously. If the weather becomes excessively dangerous, we will reschedule on a case-by-case basis. Please monitor the weather and plan accordingly for traffic and road conditions. Weekday requests to reschedule made less than 72 hours before your scheduled booking will automatically incur a $25 fee, which will be charged to your payment method on your account. Weekend requests to reschedule within 72 hours will NOT be permitted unless someone can fill your time slot. Please plan ahead with your clients & customers and be sure to arrive for your scheduled booking.


-Please do not arrive or enter the studio more than 10 minutes early

-If you are late, your session will still end on time 

-Music/Voices are to be kept at reasonable levels

-All paper backdrop handling must be done by the studio manager (For additional colors, please list the time you'd like to switch out on your booking form)


-Back-to-back "studio" rentals are strictly prohibited. However, we do allow photographer mini-sessions and multiple photoshoots within a single rental time frame. If you would like to extend your rental, please get in touch with the studio owner via email, text, or phone. Additional studio rentals with less than 1 hour and 15 minutes between them will be classified as a back-to-back rentals. If we identify a back-to-back rental with a gap shorter than this, we will either reschedule the sessions to remove the gap or charge you for the additional time.


-You may move items around to fit your aesthetic. Remember that the studio must be cleaned and items returned to their original positions by the end of the rental period, or a $25 cleaning fee will be charged to the card on file. Take a photo beforehand to ensure you're putting things back correctly for big moves.


-You must vacate by the end of the rental period. If you remain in the studio beyond your scheduled time, you will be charged in 1/2-hour increments to the card on file. If your rental ends at 2 pm, you and your party must be out the door at 2 pm (not last camera click or cleaning) It would be best if you planned to finish shooting 5 to 10 minutes before the scheduled rental period ends. You may come 10 min early to set up.


Prohibited Substances:

-No Alcohol, Smoking, Vaping, or Drug use on the studio premises.

-No one will be admitted who is drunk or under the influence of illegal substances.

 

Fire and Restrictions:

-No burning Candles, Fire, or Flames.

-No party strobe lights (fire department will be called thinking it's a fire)

-No Glitter, Sand, Paint, Tamarac Powder or liquids that may mark or stain surfaces.

-No attaching items to the paper backdrops

-No attaching items to the studio walls (Command Strip use is acceptable; tape is not allowed unless it's painters).

-Children are not allowed to handle the disco balls

-Children must be accompanied at all times in the studio and on the Abdiana Firestone property.


Content Restrictions:

-No adult film production, pornography, or sex acts on the premises (boudoir shoots are permitted).


Rescheduling:

-Use the link at the bottom of your confirmation email for rescheduling.

-72-hour notice required for rescheduling.


Pets Policy:

-Animals are almost always welcome please give us a heads up!

-Must be friendly, leashed, or in a crate outside of the studio and when not in photos, and are not allowed on any of the furniture unless approved otherwise in writing.


Moving Furnishings:

-Take care not to scratch the flooring with personal props or equipment.


Please help us maintain our white fabrics and furniture by following these rules:


-No Dirty Shoes

-No Food or Drinks on the white couch, chairs or rugs

-No Fresh Spray Tans on the white couch, the bed, white posing boxes, or the fabric chairs

-No markers or ink of any kind

-No shoes or standing on the furniture, and no jumping on the bed

-Failure to comply will result in cleaning fees such as dry cleaning, and professional furniture cleaning costs.

-Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our space clean and beautiful!


Additional Charges:

-Invoices for additional time, extra cleaning, or damages will be charged to renters card on file.


Studio Equipment Add-Ons:

$20 - Additional backdrop color


Group Size Notification:

-Please inform us if your booking will exceed 15 people at one time.

-Additional Fee for Large Groups: We may charge an extra fee for bookings with more than 15 people. Upon notification of your group size, we will promptly invoice you $10/person over 15 people.


Terms and Conditions Agreement

Please review all policies carefully before scheduling.


OUR ADDRESS: 2001 Grand Blvd, Suite 505, Kansas City, Missouri 64108. Located on the 5th floor of the historic Abdiana Firestone building with elevator access.


PARKING OPTIONS: Street parking is available on both sides of the building, with additional free parking located at the Abdiana lot (1917 McGee St). A paid lot is also available directly south of the building.


YOUR PRIVACY AND OUR SECURITY: We value your privacy and security. While we utilize security cameras for management, safety, and damage control, we respect your space and use surveillance responsibly. Kindly inform your guests that security cameras are in use during their visit. (Women-owned and operated. Cameras are only reviewed when damage is reported, if sessions extend past booking time, or in response to a complaint.)

TERMS


SERVICES

Provider will have the studio set up and ready at the agreed-upon start time. Provider handles all paper backdrop setup and teardown. One backdrop color is included with your rental. Any additional changes during your session count as additional colors and must be requested at least 48 hours in advance to allow for staff scheduling. Client will have access to all available chairs, stools, rolling wall, ladders, boxes, pampas grass, beds, V-flats, softboxes, light stands, reflectors, and furniture. The studio is wheelchair-accessible via an elevator.


Back-to-back bookings are strictly prohibited. Mini-sessions and multiple shoots are allowed within a single booking. Any separate bookings with less than 1 hour and 15 minutes in between will be treated as back-to-back and either rescheduled or billed for additional time.


COOPERATION: The Parties agree to maintain open communication via email, text, or phone if any issues arise before, during, or after the rental.

CANCELLATION, RESCHEDULING & REFUND POLICY:

BrushCo Studio does not offer refunds. Cancelled sessions result in forfeited payment. Rescheduling is allowed up to 72 hours before your booking. Requests made less than 72 hours in advance will incur a $25 fee. Weekend reschedule requests made within 72 hours will not be accepted. Please plan with your clients and arrive on time.


RAIN OR SHINE POLICY:

If the KC streetcar is operating, so are we. In severe weather conditions, we may reschedule on a case-by-case basis.


STUDIO POLICIES


These policies apply to the booking individual and all guests, clients, or talent associated with the session.

Keep music and voices at a respectful level.


Only studio managers handle backdrop paper; request color changes in advance.


Back-to-back bookings are not permitted without prior approval from the studio.


You may rearrange props, but everything must be returned to its original position, or a $25 fee will apply. Take photos before moving large items.


You must vacate the studio by the end of your rental time (not the last shot or cleanup minute)


PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES:

No alcohol, smoking, vaping, or drugs on the premises. No admittance for individuals under the influence.


FIRE & RESTRICTIONS:


No candles, flames, or burning items


No strobe lights that mimic fire alarms


No glitter, sand, paint, colored powder, or staining materials


No attaching items to backdrops or walls (Command Strips are OK; use painter’s tape only)


Children must be supervised and may not handle disco balls


CONTENT RESTRICTIONS:

No adult film, pornography, or sexual acts. Boudoir is permitted.


PET POLICY:

Pets are not allowed without prior approval (most requests are approved).


FURNISHINGS:


Do not move the bed (Studio A)


No dirty shoes or food on white furniture


Plexiglass is provided for cake smashes—position cakes in front of the seam.


No fresh spray tans, markers, or ink on white furnishings


No standing or jumping on furniture

Violations may result in cleaning fees.


GROUP SIZE:

If your group exceeds 15 people, notify the studio. A $10/person fee applies for each person over 15.


CONDUCT:

This is a professional building. The Client is responsible for all guests. If unsafe or inappropriate activity is observed, the session may be stopped immediately. No refunds will be issued. Illegal behavior will be reported.


STUDIO COOPERATION:

Client is responsible for setup and teardown. Time spent beyond the booking will be billed in 30-minute increments. Backdrop color choices must be confirmed 48 hours in advance.


TARDINESS:

Rental begins and ends at the scheduled time. Late arrivals do not extend your session. Overtime will be billed accordingly.


MINORS:

Client is responsible for confirming the legal age of all individuals or obtaining parental consent. Provider is not responsible for age verification.


DAMAGE:

Client is fully responsible for damage to studio property, equipment, or furniture. Damage will be billed at full replacement or repair value.


BACKDROPS:

All paper backdrops must be handled by studio staff. Indicate desired color switch times on your intake form. Damage to seamless paper (e.g., stains, rips, dirt, water) will be charged at $5 per foot. Avoid touching or sitting against the backdrop to prevent creases and stains. Plexiglass is provided for protection.


PROPS:

Use only displayed props. Do not access closed storage. Return all used items to their proper place. Fabric items must be folded neatly. Failure to clean or reset the space will result in a $25 fee.


PARKING & ACCESSIBILITY:

Client is responsible for parking fees. BrushCo Studio is not liable for elevator outages.


LIABILITY:

Client assumes liability for all guests. BrushCo Studio is not responsible for accidents, damages, or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather, illness, power outages).


MERGER:

This agreement supersedes all prior versions. Any changes must be made in writing and signed by all parties.

Studio Location

The studio is located in the Abdiana Firestone building in downtown Kansas City.

PARKING: Free street parking, Free Abdiana parking lot (1917 McGee St) next to a yellow mechanic shop, and pizza.

You will receive entry access details via e-mail after you've booked.

Client access codes

Yes! Please feel free to give your client entry codes and instructions for your photoshoots and minis.

Running Late

The rental period commences at the specified time and ends as scheduled. Late arrival by the renter will not extend the rental period. The renter can request additional time, but it is not guaranteed. You will be charged at the studio's hourly rate.

Bringing your own props or Paper | staging studio

Yes, you are allowed to move visibly displayed studio props and furniture. If you use studio fabrics or linens, they must be folded and placed back neatly. Unauthorized access to closed storage areas is prohibited.

Yes, you can bring your own props as long as they are removed at the end of your rental. You may also use the two stands and backdrop pole provided in the studio for your own personal paper. You cannot use the mounted backdrop station for your personal paper colors.



The studio must be cleaned, and items put away and back in their original position by the end of the rental period. Otherwise, a $25 cleaning fee will be charged to the card on file.

Photography Minis

Yes we welcome minis and multiple shoots as long as they are under one rental. Please contact the studio owner via e-mail, text, or phone to add more time to your rental.

Please take note of the following information:

Both studios receive plenty of natural light during the day. In addition to this, Studio B is equipped with one Daylight Color Balanced LED light. This equipment can be used in conjunction with natural daylight or on its own. It's important to note that the provided lighting equipment is continuous, not flash.

Studio A does not come with any lighting. For additional lighting options, please refer to the add-ons.

Group Size

The 15-person limit is for groups of people in the room simultaneously.

Cancellation | Rescheduling | Refund Policies

Brushco. Studio does not offer refunds of any kind. If you cancel your session, you forfeit your payment. If you need to reschedule your session, please do so at least 72 hours before your scheduled booking. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of payment. The availability for rescheduling will be subject to BrushCo Studio's discretion. Requests to reschedule less than 72 hours before your scheduled booking will incur a $25 fee automatically charged to your payment form on your account. Please plan ahead with your clients & customers and be sure to arrive for your scheduled booking.

Bad Weather

We have a rain-or-shine policy. If the streetcar is running, we are, too. However, we take the safety of our guests very seriously. If the weather becomes excessively dangerous, we will reschedule on a case-by-case basis. Please pay attention to the weather and plan for traffic and road conditions.

Security camera | On Site manager question

We value your privacy and security. While we utilize security cameras for management, security, and damage control, we respect your space and utilize surveillance responsibly. The studio manager will only be on-site to switch backdrop colors, emergencies, suspicious complaints from the building, or if requested. The studio manager will knock and announce their presence before entering. Kindly inform your guests that security cameras are in use during their visit. Women-owned and operated. Cameras are checked when something has been found damaged to see if you're still in space after session time has ended or have received suspicious complaints from the building.

Under 18 Restrictions | Nudity & Professional Conduct

You must be 18 or older to rent the studio. Subjects under 18 being photographed in the studio must have parent or legal guardian approval and be accompanied by an adult at all times on Abdiana property. The renter is solely responsible for verifying that all client's subjects are of legal age or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The provider has no responsibility to determine or verify the age of participants in the Renter activities but reserves the right to demand proof of parental consent. The provider is not liable for any invalid ID or other form of age verification.

Nudity is allowed. The Renter is solely responsible for verifying that all subjects are of legal age. The Provider has no responsibility to determine or verify the age of participants in the Renter activities but reserves the right to demand proof. The Provider is not liable for any invalid ID or other form of age verification. You must maintain a professional environment in and outside of the studio. The Renter shall be solely responsible for the conduct and welfare of all persons accompanying the client while at the studio. Absolutely no sexual intercourse and or acts allowed under any circumstances. If the Provider observes or becomes aware of dangerous, illegal, or negligent practices or activities. The Provider reserves the right to stop the shoot and may require the Renter and party to leave immediately. The authorities will be alerted to any illegal activities witnessed by the Provider. In such cases, refunds will not be given for any used time.

cake smash

FOOD is okay, but please do not use Liquids or Food that will stain Fabrics and furniture. Plexiglas is down to protect paper from cake smashes, etc., but please have kids and cake positioned in front of the crack to ensure the cake does not seep on paper.

No water in the tub! We do not have a pump.

If you bring a baby tub prop, please do not use it on the paper backdrops. Instead, use walls with concrete, wood laminate, or white plexi flooring. Water will seep under the plexi and ruin the paper. Thank you for understanding.

Any damage done to seamless paper backdrops will result in a charge of $5 per foot.
